Gwen Davis, Trustee

Gwen is a native Texan, born in the East Texas town of Tyler. While her father was in the Navy, she spent her formative years living on both East and West Coast as well as some time overseas.

She is married to M. L. Davis, her husband of sixty-eight years. They had five children, two boys and three girls.

After her marriage and three children, Gwen continued her education via night school and after working for a ‘Big Eight” accounting firm (Haskin and Sells) she became the bookkeeper for an independent oil operator in Dallas. She gives much credit for her personal and professional training to BPW/TBW as she worked her way up the ladder to Financial Manager. She worked for that company for twenty seven years before retirement.

She joined BPW at the age of thirty as a charter member of the Richardson BPW Club. She served as President of Richardson in 1965. She served the Texas Federation as National Contact Chairman and member of the Finance Committee prior to being elected as the Texas Federation Treasurer in 1975. Gwen served as President of the Texas Federation of Business & Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. in 1981-82.

Gwen also served the National Federation as Young Careerist Chairman for the year 1982-83.

Gwen has completed three different programs of the National Individual Development Program and is currently qualified to teach the courses. She also is a graduate of TBW Personal Development Train the Trainer Program. She served as Texas Individual Development Chairman in 2006-07 and served as Texas Leadership Chairman for 2007-08. Gwen served three years as the TBW Parliamentarian from 2011-2014.

She served six years as trustee and chairman of Texas BPW Foundation from 1998 - 2003.

BPW/TBW has been a large part of Gwen’s life for the over fifty years. She continues to offer her services where and as needed.
