Mary Mackey, Texas Business Women, Inc. President

Mary Mackey joined TBW in January 2000. In February, the other 5 members of the Cooke County Local Organization (LO) determined she should be their Vice President. It was almost overwhelming and somewhat daunting; but a determination to overcome her shyness and improve her communication skills, and, more significant, the encouragement of the members gave her the courage to stay and give it a shot. She has since served as LO Treasurer and President, Region 7 Director, state Finance Committee Chair a couple of times, TBW state Treasurer twice, and TBW state 2010-11 Vice President.

"Tenacity" is one of Mary's most prominent attributes. A couple of years out of high school and working as computer operator for a small accounting firm, Mary recognized she needed to be better educated and enrolled in an accounting class. It took 14 years to get her accounting degree, all while raising two wonderful children and working fulltime.
